Saturday saw a nice crowd at the Placerita Canyon Nature Center’s annual open house and family festival.

From log cutting and wool carding to getting up close and personal with reptiles and marsupials, the event spotlighted Placerita Canyon’s unique blend of human history and nature. Among the activities were a treasure hunt, animal presentations, guided hikes, face painting, and informative exhibits on conservation, wildlife and local history.

The event was sponsored by the Placerita Canyon Nature Center Associates and the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation. The Nature Center is located east of the 14 Freeway at 19152 Placerita Canyon Road.
