In a world over-run with bands attaching the suffix "core" to the end of random words to describe their genre, Fentruck proudly plays pop-punk. Formed in late 2005 in Santa Clarita, California, Fentruck plays music they describe as "thinking man's punk" — fast-paced, high energetic songs with clever lyrics for the pop-punk fan obsessed with pop-culture. Co-lyricists Eli Kellogg and David Green's lyrics are littered with references to mythology, literature, science fiction, and classic television to name a few, and that's just an example of lyrics from one song.
Fentruck plays punk/pop-punk music that is influenced by bands like Alkaline Trio, Saves The Day, Rise Against, Bayside, etc. They have an intense live show and great musicianship that not only appeals to fans of pop-punk, but to non-fans who can't help but cheer for their stage presence and on-stage antics.
The southern California four-piece has toured all over northern and southern California, made numerous runs through Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas while on their own DIY tours, and landed a spot on the 2007 Vans Warped Tour. They also independently released a full-length album, 2007's Pencils Down, which was given a five out of five by smartpunk.com. The band is hard at work on a follow-up album that promises to up the ante, both musically and lyrically.
