Greetings!

This bill which I co authored in 2007 was titled " A Federal Ban on the Breeding of the Exotic Feline for Personal Possession" is now titled "The Big Cats and Public Safety Protection Act". It was introduced in the United States House of Representatives by co-sponsers Rep. Buck McKeon and Rep. Loretta Sanchez on February 29, 2012. A press conference officiated by myself, Rep Buck McKeon and Rep Loretta Sanchez held at the Shambala Preserve on April 2, 2012 introduced the bill to the public.

I am very proud of this pending legislation and am looking forward to going to Washington during its markup in committee to testify concerning it's final content. Supporting this bill upon its final approval is imperative.

Shambala Under Construction

We at Shambala are looking into the future so we can provide sanctuary for additional animals. Prior to this it is our responsibility to renovate 12 compounds to meet our high standards which greatly exceed the standards put forth by all the various public agencies. We are currently nearing the completion of two new compounds. Safety, security and expanse of the enclosures is of primary importance for all concerned at the Shambala Preserve for both animal and human.

To illustrate how we are exceeding current regulatory mandates, these new compounds are comprised of 1200 linear feet of fencing enclosing 168,800 square feet of space at a cost of over $100,000.

Fire Safety Clearance
The responsibility of keeping Shambala safe is an ongoing endeavor. Spending $20,000 on clearing the hillsides of excess foliage such as trees and shrubs on 40 acres is a part of the one million dollars per year spent to maintain the Preserve.
