Clean Water, Clean Beaches
is a proposed "fee" increase on all parcel owners within the
jurisdiction of the L.A. County Flood Control District (LACFCD) for the
purpose of carrying out infrastructure projects throughout the county
to reduce storm water runoff pollution.
Clean Water, Clean Beaches is
subject to Prop 218, under The California Constitution, and must go
through a two-step approval process, which includes a public hearing
and an election. The public hearing will take place January 15th at 9:30 a.m. at the regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles. Parcel
owners have until the public meeting to submit either a protest form
or written protest, or they may give oral testimony at the public
hearing. Written protests must include the parcel address and
APN, and must be signed by the parcel owner or authorized
representative. According
to Prop 218, upon the close of the public hearing, if the Board of
Supervisors has not received protest by a majority of the affected
parcel owners, the Board may vote to authorize an election to approve
the fee. The Board may also vote to not authorize an election or vote
to continue the hearing to a future date.
Parcel
owners should have received their Prop 218 "Public Hearing Notices" in
the mail already. If you have not or if you feel you may have
discarded it, you can print out another one by following this link LACFCD
has also set up a website where parcel owners can learn more about the
proposed measure and calculate their estimated fee
increase(s): ww.lacountycleanwater.org.
