Several generations of Guthries participated in the dedication of an oak tree, marked by a boulder and plaque, to the late James R. “Bob” Guthrie, the Southern Pacific Railroad’s last station agent at Saugus. The event was organized by Guthrie’s widow, Arminta, who lived upstairs in the depot with her husband and five of their six children from 1962 to 1978.
