Sand Canyon Beautification Groundbreaking

Uploaded 08/29/2013

By: The City of Santa Clarita
The project will improve 3.4 acres within the Caltrans rights of way at the Sand Canyon north and south bound on and off ramps. Environmentally-friendly landscaping will include sizeable oak trees, shrubs, and grasses, as well as low twisting stone walls and natural colored stone pavers.

    Great, more useless construction.

  3. Daniel Rand Daniel Rand says:

this is my exit and entrance. cool!

  4. EVERY TIME THEY HAVE A PROJECT TO MAKE SANTA CLARITA BEAUTIFUL THEY RAISE MY PROPERTY TAX. WHAT IF YOUR A SENIOR ON FIXED INCOME WHO GIVES A FLIP.

  5. They should really stop cutting down trees especially 40 yr old Eucalyptus trees when they’re just going to replace them with ugly ass oak trees.. that’s pathetic.. they’re planting trees where no one is going to care to noticed any of them. And not even a month ago, the city took at least 3 or 4 useful trees that gave off shade for the bus stop on soledad by sierra hwy directly next to the Albertsons.. for what reason? Soo everyone waiting for the bus or even just walking can be even hotter. They’re walking in direct sun the whole way up Soledad Cyn with the occasional shade every so often but before the city did what they did. They’d get up to shangri-la still walking to sierra hwy or where ever there would be going at least there was some shade right there on the sidewalk/grass area. Now what? There’s nothing protecting the people waiting for the bus stop. Not even the bus stop itself is big enough to give off enough shade for as many people as I always see there.. instead of beautifying certain parts of the city why not leave the already beautiful shady nice scenery parts ALONE!! You think your helping the people of the city. But the people in city council don’t know what’s good for our city. Seems like they’re only ruining it… cause that’s all I see..

When getting off/on the freeway anywhere, I’m more involved in watching out for idiot drivers and less interested in the trees and shrubs and flowers that the city spent millions of dollars on. Money that could be put to better use.

  7. Linda Morgan Linda Morgan says:

That part of Sierra Highway belongs to the State, not the city. Call Jerry Brown. :-)

  8. Good for Sand Canyon, still waiting for them to do something with Sierra Highway, particularly between Newhall Avenue and Golden Valley…. why is this heavily used roadway area so hideous?
