Setting Up for Saturday’s Military Honor Christmas Tree Lighting
Uploaded 12/06/2013 Volunteers from Prayer Angels for the Military and the City Parks crew were out in force Friday, setting up for the 8th annual Military Honor Christmas Tree Lighting. Coinciding with Pearl Harbor Day this year, the event will take place Saturday, Dec. 7, at 6 p.m. at Veterans Historical Plaza in Newhall (the “triangle” of Newhall Avenue, Market and Walnut streets). The following people are tentatively scheduled to join emcee Fred Arnold at the podium: – Pastor John Shaver of Valencia United Methodist Church (invocation) – PVT Alexis Valencia, USMC Camp Pendleton (Pledge of Allegiance) – Hart High School Carolers (National Anthem) – Councilwoman Marsha McLean (Recognition of Service Members & Veterans) – Actor Bob Zachar (Singing “The Christmas Song” and “White Christmas”) – Chuck Morris, Korean War Veteran (Keynote address) – Councilman TimBen Boydston (Recognition of Gold Star Families) – Author/Producer Marilyn Hackett (singing “I’ll Be Home for Christmas”) – SCV Young Marines (Wreath presentation donated by Prayer Angels for the Military/Suzon Gerstel) Light refreshments provided by iDare Inc. / Nicky Dare, National Association of Professional Women
