SCV NewsBreak for Thursday, April 24, 2014

Parents and school officials awaiting a new Castaic High might have to wait a little bit longer, school officials said Thursday.

Teens, sexting, cyberbullying and social media were the topics discussed with parents and Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials at Santa Clarita City Hall on Wednesday.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies are seeking the public’s help in trying to identify two suspects who they believe are involved in a shoplifting and pickpocketing ring.

The City of Santa Clarita is planning several fun, family events surrounding the Amgen Tour of California, including festivals and a chance to hit our valley’s trails.

Saturday afternoon and into night, the 11th annual Summer Meltdown all-ages concert rocks the Santa Clarita Skate Park. For details and tickets visit www.summermeltdownscv.com.

On Saturday NIGHT, it’s the 37th annual SCV Dodger Day at Dodger Stadium. Jim Ventress of the Boys & Girls Club will throw out the first pitch at 6 p.m. You can still get tickets for the Dodgers-Rockies game and help represent our community at www.dodgers.com.

And both Saturday and Sunday, the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival takes over Melody Ranch in Placerita Canyon. Tickets are still available online and on Festival days in the big parking lot off Placerita Canyon and 12th Street in Newhall. For details, visit www.cowboyfestival.org.

Well if Hart District stop putting their money in other locations Castaic would have a high school. They can’t even finish Golden Valley and another high school but they have money to keep remodeling Hart High or putting money into that school. Hey Hart District get ur heads up out of ur butts and give the Castaic families a High School they deserve it.

  9. When we moved to Castaic in 2001 we were told CHS would be open before my daughter began kindergarten. Now it won’t be open until after she graduates High School. Thank goodness we moved to Valencia so she would go to Hart.

  11. The high school for the Newhall ranch project will be in before we ever see a high school in Castaic. Then they will say there are not enough kids for one!
