Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to Sierra Vista Junior High School Tuesday after a report of a gun near campus.

The annual California State PTA convention seeks to encourage parents and teachers in leadership and education reform. This year, 71 local PTA members will go to the convention in L.A., to attend more than 75 workshops, and hear keynote speakers like state Attorney General Kamala Harris, National Teacher of the Year, Jeff Charbonneau, and national PTA President Otha Thornton.

The California Highway Patrol is sending out a reminder to drivers to watch out for the safety of bicyclists on the road.

Local businesses and their employees have several chances to win prizes when they sign up to participate in Bike to Work Day on May 15.

Law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty will be honored at a special event hosted by the friends of Hart park on National Peace Officers Memorial Day.
