A Canyon High School sophomore remains in critical condition after being ejected from a car Saturday night in Valencia. Local Polls will be open for the primary election on Tuesday and the results will give us our top-two ballot choices for November. The Los Angeles County Public Health Department teamed up with the Santa Clarita Sheriff Station to conduct a series of inspections on street food vendors last week to ensure compliance with the state’s health and safety codes. If you drove by the mall Sunday night you may have noticed a lot of police hanging around. Don’t worry, it was just a drill. A local playhouse has suspended one of their productions after an actor was fired during a performance Saturday. Former College of the Canyons pitcher Dana Eveland is back in the majors. We, as actors VOLUNTEER our time (about 15 hours per week during rehearsals alone) and the sad fact is that THIS MAN decided that the acting wasn’t worth him shutting his mouth and enjoying or hell even learning something from such a wonderful play. If he puts this theater out of business…well…He affects ALL of our futures. Don’t boycott the rep. Boycott rude and hateful audience members.
You all seriously are going to boycott a perfectly good theater?!?!? I’m ashamed of our city right now. He had to be let go because the rep could NOT stand for violence even of the smallest offense! How seriously DARE you people. AND WILL PEOPLE STOP SAYING SECURITY SHOULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING. There is no security staff there it is a VOLUNTEER theater. They do this for entertainment not profit. UGH
The city made their choice for whatever reason, but I stand with those who have the gumption to act against something so wrong! Bullying is wrong no matter the circumstance and for the theater to fire the only person who stood against the bully is wrong, wrong, wrong! No one wins because now all of the actors, director, stagehands etc. are without a production, and the public is out from seeing a very astute piece of work.
Totally agree with you J.D!!! Where were the other people in the audience??? It’s hard to imagine that NO ONE else in the audience said anything!!! Shame on all who attended. The incident should have been handled immediately….by someone…..anyone!!!
The actor should not of been fired. Our family will boycott the theatre !!

I’m sorry but I don’t think the actor should have been fired. I know leaving the stage and going after someone in the audience was a knee jerk reaction and wasn’t a professional thing to do but he was reacting as a human. Shame on the repertory theatre for their decision.
He should NEVER have been fired!! We will never see a Show there again until this is made right and I am not the only one. When a disgusting human being is showing HATE, shame on the rest of the audience for not standing up as well. Maybe after you have faced a lifetime of prejudice you might feel different. You want to fault him for a push?? I celebrate him!! At least he stood up for someone being attacked while others just hide. What are you teaching your children about hatred? Maybe if more kids that are bullied were taught to stand up for themselves it wouldn’t be such a problem. Think about it. Violence isn’t the answer, but standing up for yourself or others needs to be done.
He put the playhouse and himself in jeopardy of being sued. The playhouse has to answer to the city and their insurers and this actor did them no favor by taking the law into his own hands. He should have ignored the guy and let mgmt. handle it. The mgmt. also was at fault for allowing the heckler to be so disruptive and rude. But this guy needed to show the audience he was a professional and a adult and he let his emotions over run that. People can not get physical with others because they get annoyed by a stupid person running off at the mouth. As adults we need to have self control to teach children it is not ok to hit, shove because someone annoys you. I am sure a kid or two were in the audience and witnessed this. What kind of message was he sending. Both the heckler and this guy were at fault. Two wrongs do not equal a right.
If there were children/child in the audience for this particular play then the parents and kids should have been escorted out along with the idiot heckler.

If this indeed happened before intermission why didn’t the stage manager say anything? You can hear everything from that booth.
The actor should have told the producers or the people that run the theatre to get the heckler removed before he took into his own hands. It started before the intermission, so the actor at intermission should have told them to have the man removed. Not taking into his own hands .
Shame on Rep Theater for not having security at their shows! Boycott!

who in their right mind would yell anything, let alone a slur during a performance of any kind!
Yeah – assault should be part of every high brow theatrical production.
The front of house staff should have made an attempt to stop it before it escalated to that point
