Almost a week after it avoided trial with a last-minute settlement, College of the Canyons’ governing board finally disclosed the terms of a settlement involving a violation of the California Voting Rights Act.

A Santa Clarita man accused of trying to pay $80,000 to have his wife killed pleaded no contest in court Friday, according to the prosecutor.

It’s not the first time Charles Helmers Elementary School in Valencia has received the California Distinguished School Award. It’s the fifth time.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies are hosting their annual Summer Showdown BBQ Competition on June 21st.
