A New Mexico senator said Monday he opposes a bill that would prevent a 56 million ton sand-and-gravel mine from opening in the Santa Clarita Valley — because it sets a “dangerous precedent.” The American Red Cross is hosting a Community Blood Drive Wednesday at City Hall. Chiquita Canyon employees assembled more than 50 bicycles for kids at the Child & Family Center. The City of Santa Clarita is hosting a winter photo contest and winners have the opportunity to win up to $300 cash.
