SCV’s Newest Park Officially Open

[KHTS] – Santa Clarita offiScreen Shot 2015-02-12 at 2.02.00 PMcials celebrated their milestone 30th public park opening by cutting the ribbon Thursday at River Village Park.

River Village Park, located off of Newhall Ranch Road, near the intersection of Santa Clarita Parkway and Riverrock Way, is part of a Newhall Land development.

The River Village Housing development needed to build a park in order to get approval from the city’s housing development, an official said.

Screen Shot 2015-02-12 at 2.02.10 PM“The 29-acre park will consist of a 5-acre developed park site that features a themed play area, a place for people to picnic and walking trails,” said Gail Morgan, city spokeswoman. “It will also have 24 acres of passive open space for the new River Village community.”
