Placerita Nature Center Open House & Family Festival
The Placerita Canyon Nature Center was buzzing with activity Saturday as the Nature Center Associates and L.A. County Parks and Rec hosted their annual open house and family festival.
The park was packed with people from the time the event started at 10 a.m., said park Superintendent Russell Kimura. At least 1,500 vehicles translated into a couple of thousand visitors who experienced an animal show, scavenger hunt, face painting, faux gold panning, nature hikes and more.
The nonprofit Placerita Canyon Nature Center Associates organization provides docents who give their time throughout the year to lead school groups on educational hikes, instructing them on the flora, fauna, geology, antropology, ecology and local history of the area.
