In this Caltrans News Flash, spokesman Rick Estrada ventures into the areas affected by the Butte Fire to give us a glimpse into the department’s commitment both during and after a wildfire strikes.

The ongoing Butte Fire has blackened 70,000 acres and destroyed more than 450 buildings, figures that would be even higher if not for the quick actions and commitment from Caltrans’ workers.

While Caltrans was among the first to arrive at the Butte Fire, it also will be among the last to leave, long after the final flame has been extinguished.
