New Castaic Schools Superintendent Hopes to Make Waves

The Castaic Union School District is the smallest school district in the Santa Clarita Valley.

First established in 1892, the school has gone from a one-room schoolhouse to serving 2,500 students in four schools located throughout Castaic.

About 19 days ago, Steve Doyle stepped into the leadership position. He is replacing Janene Maxon, who served as interim superintendent after Jim Gibson stepped down in August.

For the past six years, Doyle served as the superintendent of the Keppel Union School District. Before that, he worked for five years as the assistant superintendent of business services.

Doyle received his master’s degree from California State University, Bakersfield, after receiving his bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Minnesota State University.

In addition to his accomplishments throughout his life, he is a father and husband.
