The Santa Clarita City Council and community members honored the late Duane Harte Monday afternoon.

A dedication event was held to rename of River Village Park to Duane R. Harte Park.

The park is renamed for Harte who was well known for being a committed volunteer, community advocate and former chairman of the Santa Clarita Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission.

The renamed park opened to the public in February of last year and is the 30th City of Santa Clarita Park.
