SCV News | Sand Fire Day 5: Charred Hillsides, Blackened Landscapes
|
Some aftermath from the Sand Fire is emerging in the Placerita Canyon Road and Sand Canyon Road area. Crews are still assessing the landscapes and maintaining hot spots in the area, in order to prevent them from flaring up and restarting the massive wildfire. The fire has burned through 37,473 acres and is 25% contained as of Tuesday afternoon. While many of the 20,000 people who were evacuated from their homes were able to return Monday night, those in areas along Placerita Canyon Road, Little Tujunga Canyon Road, Agua Dulce Canyon Road, and Soledad Canyon Road are still under mandatory evacuation orders.
