‘Food for Fines’ Program is About More than Overdue Books

“Food for Fines” donation bins will continue to be filled throughout September and their help extends beyond alleviating library fines: the donations are going to the nearly 70 clients, which includes families, the SCV Food Pantry helps each day they are open.

The program, a partnership between the Santa Clarita Public Library and the Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry exchanging one donation to the Food Pantry with relieving up to $20 in library fines, kicked off last Thursday on September 1 to quick success.

SCV Food Pantry Executive Director Belinda Crawford said she received notice on Tuesday morning that donation bins at the three library branches are already full and are ready for pickup.
