CAL FIRE

Special Fire Situation Report for Friday, Sept. 23, 2016

Multiple red flag warnings (high fire danger) have been issued for much of Southern California through Monday afternoon, including Ventura County, mountain regions of SCV, Angeles National Forest, more. Santa Ana winds are likely Friday night and are expected to return during the peak event Sunday when temps are estimated to reach 105.

LACo Fire for SCV – Castaic – Val Verde – Agua Dulce – Gorman:

The high wind advisory will continue through Sunday at 6 pm. Winds are expected to be 15-30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph in the wind prone areas.

Assistant Fire Chief Gregory Hisel says “The Los Angeles County Fire Department has staffed additional firefighters and equipment including strike teams, fire patrols, and more. We are prepared for the threat this weekend.” Hisel adds “If you see smoke or fire or you see suspicious activity, please call 9-1-1 immediately.”

The fall months will continue to bring high winds and red flag weather warnings. Residents who have not yet implemented the steps in the READY! SET! GO! Guide should do so immediately. Pick up a copy of the guide at your local fire station or visit: www.fire.lacounty.gov.
