Sierra Vista Life for Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016

Daily show brought to you by Sierra Vista Life, the digital journalism class at Sierra Vista Junior High School in Canyon Country.

TODAY AT SIERRA VISTA
DODGERS- This past weekend, Sierra Vista Junior High students were able to attend a Dodger game, courtesy of the Los Angeles Dodgers Kids 4 Dodgers Baseball program.  Kids 4 Dodgers allows Los Angeles area youth the opportunity to attend a game, with all expenses paid. Dodgers paid for a bus, ticket into the game, a voucher to purchase a Dodger dog and a drink, and provided shirts to all participants. Sierra Vista’s students also happened to be fortunate enough to witness Vin Scully’s last home game at Dodgers Stadium, and see the Dodgers become NLWest Champs!  It was truly an unforgettable experience!
DENIM DAY- Tomorrow is Denim Day! If you made a donation to help find a cure for Breast Cancer, please wear your pink wristband and jeans to school! We are taking a picture on the outdoor stage at the end of brunch for all participants.  Your pink wristband will be your tardy excuse back to class during RELAX.  Please bring any donations to room 617 today or before school tomorrow!
Congratulations to the following DFYIT Officers!  Sami West, Alyssa Carrera, Laila Sanchez, Sofia Cuevas!!  Please come see Mrs. Sandoval in room 402 for more information.
#ICANHELP Hey Sierra Vista, this Thursday we will be having an assembly from the #icanhelp program. Kim Karr and Matt Soeth co-founded a program called #iCANHELP when inspired by a concerned student after a fake and damaging Facebook page was created on a local teacher. Kim and Matt realized that STUDENTS WANTED TO DO SOMETHING about all the bullying and negativity on social media sites, they just needed the right tools to respond. The #iCANHELP message is that one person has the power to make a difference and delete negativity online, and in his or her life. We hope you enjoy Thursday’s assembly and inspiring message.
The Spurs team would like to congratulate these students of the month selected for the month of September:
Christopher Guerra
Ian Estrella
Ffion Osahon
Christina Drake
Thank you to these students for doing an awesome job in classes and with helping others.  They are great examples of Spurs citizens!  Please stop by room 102 to pick up your congratulatory treat!
TWO MORE DAYS- It’s finally here, the first dance of the year! Our first dance is THIS Friday from 2:30-4:30pm in the MPR. Tickets are on sale NOW during brunch and lunch at the ASB window. You must have your student ID card to purchase a dance ticket, and you cannot be on the library LOP list. Tickets are $8 Monday-Wednesday, but they go up to $10 STARTING TOMORROW and Friday. And don’t forget that we have the special “Fast Pass” for this dance for $15, which is a special admission ticket that gets you to the front of the line to get in the dance, and you get a free food item, a free beverage, and front of the line to the games. We will also be having a special “Disney Spirit Day” on Friday, so wear your Disney gear! Can’t wait to see you at “the happiest place on Earth!”
Spurs Team: Don’t forget to order your team t-shirts and sweatshirts at the ASB window until Oct. 5.
