City Opens 34th Park in Valencia

On Thursday, December 15, the City of Santa Clarita held a ribbon cutting ceremony for Marketplace Park. The ribbon cutting, held on the City’s 29th birthday, marks the official opening of the city’s 34th park.

A partnership between the City of Santa Clarita, Bridgeport Marketplace and Real Life Church, the City’s newest park is located on the corner of Newhall Ranch Road and Grandview Drive near Real Life Church.

Mayor Pro Tem Laurene Weste was joined by fellow City Councilmember Marsha McLean, local dignitaries, members of the The beautiful park includes walkways, picnic tables, benches and drinking fountains surrounding 2.5 acres of open turf area. Another feature of the park is a shade structure that will offer residents relief from the heat on summer days. With the anticipated popularity of Marketplace Park, an additional 170 parking stalls have been installed.

As an added convenience for our residents with electric vehicles, the City coordinated with EVgo, developers of charging solutions and stations for electric car owners, to install a fast-fill electric charging station in the parking lot near Marketplace Park. These new stations can fully charge an electric vehicle in less than thirty minutes.

Marketplace Park is now open to the public to enjoy.     So the city “in partnership” built 170 parking spaces for the Real Life Church to use? You know on weekends that’s who those spaces will be filled by.

    Oh boy another park for Johnny to play soccer in… It sure would be nice if the City of Santa Clarita would start including the 4 legged residents of this planned community. Not one dog park with grass…
