Christmas Tree Recycling

This Week in Santa Clarita: Laura Jardine informs residents on what they need to do in order to recycle their Christmas trees this holiday season.

The City of Santa Clarita and Waste Management are offering free curbside Christmas tree recycling through January 14, 2017 for all residents located in the Santa Clarita city limits. Trees will be collected on your regular trash day from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. If the tree is not out for collection by the time trucks come by for service, the tree will be collected the following week on trash day. Single family residents should place their trees at the curb on their regular collection day during the two weeks following Christmas. Multi-family residents can place their trees adjacent to the trash bins in their complex. Please remove all materials such as tinsel, ornaments, lights, and tree stands before placing trees out for collection. All recycled trees are used as soil amendment, compost or bagged for mulch. Flocked Christmas trees will be picked up if placed curbside but will not be recycled. In addition, trees over six feet tall will be collected in a separate truck.
For more information on Christmas tree recycling, please contact the City’s Environmental Services Division at (661) 286-4098.
