PE FUNDRAISER FUN!- Hey Sierra Vista! Don’t forget to turn in your donation money for the PE fundraiser before school, brunch and lunch to secure your spot in Extreme PE Day this Friday! All you need is cash or check, your ID card, and the signed fundraiser permission form at the ASB window by this Thursday April 20th. Need another permission form? See any PE teacher, or download and print a copy right on sierravistalife.com
LIP SYNC BATTLE- Hey students! Come out to the quad on April 21st at lunch to see the epic lip sync battle between the teachers! The teams competing against each other are the Popcornopolis sales winners which are the Trailblazers and Gold Rush!! You don’t want to miss out on this hilariously entertaining event the whole school will be talking about!
TALENT SHOW TICKETS- SV Got Talent Show is going to be on April 27th. Tickets are going to be on sale for 5 dollars April 24th through April 27th. Don’t miss out on watching our talented plainsmen.
TALENT SHOW CONTESTANTSAttention Talent Show contestants: Our next practice will be next Monday at the same time and place. The rehearsal will be on Wednesday, April 26th at 2:15 as well. Please see Mrs. Terranova in room 1002 if you have any questions or concerns.
MAGIC MOUNTAIN FIELD TRIP- Attention 8th grade students, the annual 8th grade end-of-the-year field trip to Magic Mountain will be taking place on Wednesday, May 31st. Tickets go on sale Monday, April 17th through Friday, May 5th, for $55 at the ASB window. For Magic Mountain season pass holders, the cost is $20 but a valid Season Pass must be shown at the time of purchase. Checks should be made payable to: Sierra Vista Jr. High ASB with student ID # on the memo line. Students must have the attached permission slip signed on both sides and completed at the time of purchase – NO EXCEPTIONS. Be sure to have your student ID card with you when you purchase your ticket or you will be sent to the back of the line. Ticket includes admission to Magic Mountain, Commemorative Shirt and Transportation. Please pick up the permission slip at the ASB window. Please buy your ticket early to avoid long lines!
JOIN CHOIR – Do you you love to sing? Join choir! Students interested in joining choir for the 2017-2018 school year should come to the choir room at 3:15 TODAY to audition for Mrs. Mowry. You don’t need to prepare a song, just arrive ready to sing with your awesome voice!
Audition forms can be found on the yearlong elective website, under Advanced Choir. If you can’t make it on Wednesday, email Mrs. Mowry to set up a private audition time.
LIBRARY DISPLAYS- Hey students, stop by the library and take a look at some of our latest displays. April is Poetry Month, so checkout a book of poems from this rack. Then you can take a look at some photos from our recent Civil War Reenactments. And finally, read some graphic novels that Mr. Durruty’s science students created. You’ll learn about Newton’s Laws of Motion in a fun new way.
GOLD MEDAL STUDENTS OF THE WEEK- Team Gold Rush congratulates our Gold Medal Students of the week for the Week of April 17, 2017
Joshua Cabaong is friendly and outgoing. He is diligent and thorough in all that he does. Finally, Josh is ethical and always looks to the positive point of view, he always has a smile on his face.
Jules Manglicmot stays on top of his assignments and helps his classmates stay on top of theirs. He contributes positively in group discussions and often finishes his work ahead of others. Finally, he is focused on his academic achievement so we know he will be successful in the future.
WASHINGTON DC TRIP- Attention 7th grade students: If you are interested on going on the annual 8th grade Washington D.C. trip next year, there will be an important informational meeting on Tuesday, April 25th in the MPR at 6:30. If you cannot attend, that does not exclude you from signing up. Please see Ms. Kontis with any questions and to retrieve any missed information. It’s best though that you do attend, because space is limited.

DFYIT- Attention all DFYIT members- there is a meeting TODAY, Wednesday at 2:15 in MPR. Wear your DFYIT shirts Wednesday to our meeting and get a piece of pizza!!
CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES- Today in clubs and activities, the Rubix cube club meets in room 401 at lunch, the Yo yoers club meets in room 902 at lunch, Tutor chess club meets in room 1001 at lunch, the CHS tutoring club will be happening in the library after school, Mrs. Mowry’s reading/writing workshop is after school, and finally, DFYIT will be meeting in the MPR after school! Remember, if you were your shirt to the meeting, you get a free slice of pizza!
