Around 8:49 p.m. Thursday night, LASD Arson Explosives Detail detonated a suspicious device that was found in the College of the Canyons parking lot.

Upon close and careful examination, the device was determined to be a very realistic looking hoax device.

Earlier in the evening at approximately 5:10 p.m., a citizen informed one of our deputies that there was a suspicious device under a car in the COC parking lot #8. Deputies responded to the scene and saw a device that resembled a pipe bomb. The area was secured and the Arson and Explosives Unit was notified.
