It’s that time of year to go on a hike and enjoy the fresh air. Now, residents have 240 more acres of space to hike.

The city of Santa Clarita and The Trust for Public Land celebrated the city’s newly added protected land in the Newhall Pass.

The land connects to Gateway Ranch, a 302-acre property located on the northern half of the former Las Lomas development.

The land is now part of the city’s Open Space Preservation District and protected from development indefinitely.
