Caltrans News Flash: Workers Memorial 2018

On April 26th, Caltrans held its annual statewide Workers Memorial at the State Capitol. Sadly, since 1921, 188 California Department of Transportation employees have been killed on the job, including two in the past year. One of the biggest hazards is from motorists who do not exercise caution while driving where highway workers are present. The Workers Memorial is a time to remember those who lost their lives building, maintaining, and operating California’s world-class transportation system. This year, we honor Si Si Han, District 4 Toll Collector, who was struck and killed by a driver who was allegedly under the influence when the box truck he was driving crashed into the toll booth. We will also honor Annette Brooks, District 4 Structural Steel Painter Supervisor, who was shot and killed while on the job last year in Rio Dell, CA.
