Creating Great Futures for 50 Years
Uploaded 05/11/2018 Against a backdrop of past auction catalogs, longtime volunteers and current club kids came together Thursday in Newhall to celebrate the Santa Clarita Valley Boys and Girls Club’s golden anniversary. The club was founded in 1968 by local activists who wanted to provide healthy, organized after-school activities in a safe environment to keep latchkey kids out of trouble. Today at two locations – Newhall Park and Sierra Vista Junior High in Canyon Country – the club offers tutoring, homework assistance, computer training, sports, social recreation, education, mentoring, arts and crafts and more. In the spirit of the golden anniversary, “All That Glitters is Gold” is the theme of this year’s Benefit Auction, coming Saturday, June 2, to the Hyatt Regency Valencia. Hundreds of fabulous live and silent auction items will be on the block, plus there’s gourmet food, a raffle, entertainment and dancing. TICKETS and information are available [here]. Stay tuned to SCVTV for full coverage of Thursday’s 50th anniversary celebration.
