Overcast skies couldn’t keep the crowds away from the Placerita Canyon Nature Center Saturday as L.A. County Parks and Rec and the Nature Center Associates hosted their annual open house.

Kids young and not-so-young were treated to fun activities including (fools) gold panning and age-appropriate nature education programs put on both by the Nature Center docents and by local nonprofit environmental organizations.

The folk-rock band Bacorado (Rachael Komulainen, Connie Nassios, Don Neill, Barry Volain) had the distinction of breaking in the Nature Center’s brand-new outdoor amphitheater.
