Officials, First Responders Reminding Residents of Firework Safety

Local representatives, first responders, and medical professionals held a firework safety press conference on Friday, June 29, 2018 to remind residents to safely celebrate the Fourth of July and that fireworks of any kind are illegal in Los Angeles County unincorporated communities, including Santa Clarita.

A professional pyrotechnic demonstrator detonated fireworks in order to demonstrate the potential lethal power of illegal fireworks.

First responders are also reminding residents that possession or use of illegal fireworks can range from a fine of up to $1,000, to one year in county jail. Certain products, like m-80’s and m-100’s, are considered explosives and are a felony to possess, with penalties as high as 16 months in state prison. Parents may also be liable for any damage or injuries caused by their children using fireworks.

So you’re gonna tell me that you don’t have no black cats, no Roman Candles, or screaming mimis? Oh come on, man. You got no lady fingers, fuzz buttles, snicker bombs, church burners, finger blasters, gut busters, zippity do das, or crap flappers? You’re gonna tell me you don’t have no whistlin’ bungholes, no spleen splitters, whisker biscuits, honkey lighters, hoosker doos, hoosker don’ts, cherry bombs, nipsy daisers, with or without the scooter stick, or one single whistlin’ kitty chaser?
