Hart H.S. Students Place 2,977 Americans Flags School’s Front Lawn

About 50 Hart High students woke-up extra early Tuesday morning to place 2,977 flags on the school’s front lawn, in remembrance of the lives lost from the September 11, 2001 attacks.

Hart High School senior Annie Niedenagel organized the project for the school, inspired by the “Never Forget” projects that have been happening nationwide since 2003.

The flags are meant to represent the 2,977 lives that were lost from the attacks–not including the 19 hijackers–on the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon, and United Airlines Flight 93, which crashed in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Niedenagel produced the project in conjunction with the Young Americans for Freedom club she founded on Hart High School’s campus.
