Ted Garcia is a Native American artist and leader of many Native cultural events, including traditional songs, storytelling, and stone carving.
He is chief of the Southern Chumash and spiritual advisor to the Hart of the West Powwow in Newhall. His Tataviam, Chumash, Tongva, and Vanyume ancestors live in the Santa Clarita, San Fernando, and Antelope valleys.
Garcia’s carvings draw from the spirit within the stone. Revealing animals such as bears, dolphins, California quails, seals, etc. He uses locally sourced soapstone and alabaster.
