Local students, artists, educators and nonprofit organizations partnered Saturday to bring the 12th annual Family Literacy Festival to the city of Santa Clarita’s Old Town Newhall Library.

With a theme of “Explore, Play, Create,” this year’s event provided a fun day of celebrating literature, music, dance and crafts. Performers included the Ballet Folklórico, the Saugus choir, and musicians Joe Ayoub and Martin Espino.

Other activities include free face painting, a caricature artist, costumed character photo opportunities, a mini salsa dance lesson, storytime with a squirrel, food trucks and more.
