ENERGIZE Behavior: This week, the teachers and staff here at Sierra Vista are on the lookout for any Plainsmen that are demonstrating the behavior expectation of ENERGIZE. When a teacher or other staff member catches you doing this, he or she may award you with a bit of flair to showcase on your back pack or binder. Teachers or other staff may also award you with a Together We Succeed Ticket. Students who earn these tickets can turn them into the ASB office and will be entered in a raffle for a chance to win a prize.

 

First Attendance Challenge Winners: It’s time to announce the First Attendance challenge Winners! Winners will be receiving In n Out and Jersey Mike’s Certificates. Please report to the Attendance office at LUNCH to redeem your prize.  The Winners are… Aidan Campos, Lizabeth Canchola, Gustavo Carillo, Victor Najera, Franky Nevarez, Alexandria Norman, Samantha J. Lopez, Eduardo Lozano, Jessica Lyday, Chloe Helo, Yoselin Hernandez, Anthony, Hernandez Sandoval, Axel Arellano, Conor Ashdown, and Justin Assadi.Congratulations to the winners! Way to attend your classes all day, every day.

 

Eighth Grade Speech Contest: If you could travel back in time to witness ANY event in U.S. history, what would you choose? Signing of the Declaration of Independence? Gettysburg Address? The first automobile created on the assembly line? Your answer could win you up to $300 in this year’s eighth grade speech contest! Eighth graders, ask your history or English teachers for more information or stop by room 612 this Friday during lunch.
Los Angeles County Science Fair: We are excited to announce that we will be competing in the Los Angeles County Science Fair! This is a great event for any students with big ideas in science, math, or engineering. It is a great opportunity to showcase your talents and skills. This event is sponsored by SpaceX, JPL, and the Los Angeles County Natural History Museum. This is our second year participating and the only school in the Hart District to participate. Come to room 104 for more information on this event if you would like to participate!


Club Survey: Are you interested in forming a club? Go to the sierra vista website to take a short survey. Based on these results, ASB will make your club come true and form it to your interests.


Instagram for SV: In case you didn’t know, Sierra Vista’s Instagram page has reminders about school events to help keep you in the loop with what’s going on at school! It also features pictures of our students participating in school events, so tag yourself if you’re in one of our pics! if you aren’t following us yet, you should, so you don’t miss out on school events!


SUCCEED Center: Counselors will be available in the new SUCCEED Center during lunch time on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. It is located next to the MPR across from the Library. Hope to see you there!


Let’s Do This! Fundraiser: Hey Sierra Vista! Our last Homeroom meets today. Go to your Homeroom after Brunch. If you forgot your cash or check donations for the Let’s Do This fundraiser at home, please know that we’ve extended the final turn-in for our Let’s Do This fundraiser to Friday, September 20th. Please turn in your donations to the ASB window during BRUNCH. The official winning team and homeroom and winners of the pizza and ice cream parties will be announced next week!


Family Exploration Math Night: Attention all students. On Tuesday, September 24th from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., we will have a Family Exploration Math Night.”  Have your family sign up on the homepage of the school’s website by clicking on the announcement listed there. On Math Night, you’ll learn tips on how to do well in your math class.  See Mrs. Fulleman in our library if you have any questions.


Spirit Points: Hey Sierra Vista, here are the spirit points for 9/16. Currently, Gold Rush is in the lead because they had the most people wearing pajamas on 9/9. In second place is the Trailblazers, third is Pioneers, fourth are the Spurs, fifth is the Rangers, and sixth is the Majestics. Whichever team has the most points by the end of the quarter will win a team prize event. The winning teams of the Let’s Do This fundraiser, will earn LOTS of spirit points, so be sure to help out your team on that! This score is very close, so keep it up Plainsmen!!

Clubs and Activities: Today in Clubs and Activities, we have the “Let’s Do This” Fundraiser and the Chess Club in room 301.
