Healthy Lifestyles Club: The Healthy Lifestyles Club is finally here, Plainsmen! We’ll cover different topics like nutrition, exercise, good sleeping habits, various mental health disorders, relationships, and more. Come join us in room 615 Thursday, 10/17 at lunch for our first meeting. All are welcome!  We hope to see you there!

Family Exploration Night: Everyone is invited to our next Family Exploration Night. Literacy Night is Tuesday, October 15 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Sierra Vista Library.  Please join us to learn how to improve reading skills to be successful in all your classes.  We’ll discuss the Million Word Challenge, common obstacles faced by readers, do an effective writing activity, and more. Plus, free novels will be available for you to add to your home libraries and free refreshments!  Please RSVP by going to the Sierra Vista Home Page and clicking on the link posted there by Friday, October 11th.  Be sure to attend this fun and informative event.

Spirit Week: This week is spirit week! On Monday is merch Monday, which means you can wear merch for anything that is school appropriate, Tuesday is tye dye Tuesday, Wednesday is wacky Wednesday so wear wacky, mismatching clothes, Thursday is team war ,Thursday is team colors, so rangers wear blue, trailblazers wear red, spurs wear black, majestics wear purple, pioneers wear green, and gold rush wear yellow/gold, and Friday is flannel Friday. We hope you show your school spirit by participating! ASB will be coming around during SOME “C” and “D” periods to give participants candy. The team with the most participants wearing their designated team color on Thursday will earn spirit points.

SV Cares: Attention SV Cares club members. Don’t forget to attend our next meeting is today in room 612. We will be planning and discussing our next project/event.

Lost and Found: Stop by the Lost and Found distribution table on Thursday, October 17th. We have lunch boxes, water bottles, jackets and sweaters that just might be yours. Any unclaimed items will be donated to a charity at the end of the day.

ASB Make A Wish: ASB is doing “Make a Wish” for the month of October!  To submit a wish, go to the Sierra Vista life website and click on “Make a Wish – Request”.  Please make your wish reasonable so it increases your chances of ASB being able to fulfill your wish!

Volleyball Intramurals: The students have chosen! Volleyball is October’s lunch time intramural. Starting today, show up on the PE fields to play. There is no need to form a team. See you at lunch!

Dance Club: The Sierra Vista Dance Club is looking for any plainsmen who would like to join. Starting Friday Oct. 11th, they will meet every Friday from 2:15 PM to 3:00 PM in the SLC (Room 612). You can sign up with Mrs. Marsh in room 106 or use the following link to sign up using your student gmail: https://forms.gle/4QaYV4pujkdmnxEY6.

Majestic Students of The Month: Congratulations to our Majestic Students of the Month! Kevin Torres, Lizbeth Canchola, Yelana Pathberiya, Evany Salinas Flores, Jacob Bertran, Alina Benitez, Gabby Candelaria, Jameson Roberts, and Timothy Pavlov. Keep scoring those touchdowns in class!

Rangers Deputies of the Month: Team Rangers would like to congratulate our Deputies of the Month for October, Julian Viola Brendan Valdamar, Cole Dixon, Maile Hernandez, Eilene Lopez, Amaryliz Dominguez. These students are respectful to their teachers, and are well liked by their peers and teachers. They always put forth 100% effort in all that they do, and they exemplify the Rangers’ motto of Courage, Integrity & Perseverance! It is an honor to have Julian, Brendan, Cole, Maile, Eilene, & Amaryliz on Team Rangers!

Pioneers Students of the Month: Team Pioneers teachers would like to recognize two outstanding students. Rhonda Corona is a energetic, hard working bright young lady who takes pride in her work and demonstrates excellence in all of her classes. Paul Esmirat is an all around outstanding student who is a pleasure to have on the team. He is a role model to his peers and excels in all subjects. Congratulations and keep up the hard work Rhonda and Paul!!

Candy Corn Jar: Come to the outdoor stage at brunch on October 14 to guess how many candy corns are in the jar. The winner gets the whole jar!

Hispanic Heritage Month: It’s National Hispanic Heritage Month. SV Life would like to recognize Carlos Juan Finley who solved the mystery of what caused yellow fever in 1881.  Read more about National Hispanic Heritage Month at https://hispanicheritagemonth.gov/
