LASD Press Conference: Saugus High School Shooting

Supervisor Kathryn Barger, Santa Clarita Sheriff Captain Robert Lewis, and others held a press conference regarding this morning’s shooting at Saugus High School.

COC Cougar News summarized what has become public knowledge as of 1:00 p.m.

 

Call went out at 7:38 a.m. for an assault with a deadly weapon call with shots fired at Saugus High School on Centurion Way. Units from across the Santa Clarita Valley and Los Angeles County rushed to the scene.

Multiple agencies including LASD, LAPD, CHP, FBI, Homeland Security, LACoFD, AMR and neighboring agencies responded.

Triage treatment was established for each gunshot victim for a total of six including the suspect.

Two patients were sent to Holy across Medical Center in CRITICAL condition.

The suspect’s girlfriend and mother are located at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

SUSPECT
– 16-year-old male
– Today is his birthday.
– He was found in the school’s quad with spent pistol.
– Believed to have drawn weapon from some kind of bag and shot at least five people before shooting himself in the head.

VICTIMS
– 16-year-old girl died.

  • 14-year-old boy died.
  • 14-year-old girl injured.
  • 15-year-old girl injured.
  • 14-year-old boy injured.
