DFY in SCV Field Trip: Attention all DFY in SCV Members: If you are interested in attending the Junior High Summit Field Trip on March 27, please see Mrs. Henry in room 305 to get a permission slip. Permission slips are due no later than Thursday, March 5.
8th Grade Best: Attention 8th Grades, make sure to vote for 8th Grade Best by going to bit.ly/8thgvotes Football Camp: On Saturdays 3/8 and 3/15 Canyon High School is having a football Camp for anyone who is interested. Participants must be 8th Grade or younger; NO High School Students. The price is $25. Please come to room 206 at brunch or lunch for a flyer and permission slip.
March Madness: March Madness is coming back to Sierra Vista! Come to room 1002 during lunch on Friday for an informational meeting and sign-ups. The tournament is 5 on 5 and teams can have up to 8 players. You can sign up as a team or free agent. All players must sign-up to play. If you have any questions see Mr. Drabinski. See you during lunch on Friday.
8th Grade BBQ: Hey 8th graders! ASB wants your input for what you’d like to have at your end of the year 8 grade BBQ! Please go to the Sierra Vista Life homepage and use the “8 Grade BBQ Survey” link to vote for some of the things you’d like to have at the BBQ. The survey will close February 28, so please complete the form ASAP! ASB wants to make this the best BBQ ever, but we need your input! Thanks!
Attendance Event: At the end of the quarter, ASB will be having an attendance event for the team that has the best attendance for the five week grading period. ASB is going to do this for every quarter for the rest of the year. ONLY the students on that team with perfect attendance will receive an Otter pop! Additionally, the team with the best attendance will get spirit points. Make sure to help out your team to try and get the best attendance.
Majestic Mountaineers of The Month: The Majestic Mountaineers would like to congratulate our Students of the Month! Ricky Prado: Ricky demonstrates a desire to excel in academics and is working hard to fulfill his desire by completing all assignments with accuracy and good effort. Daniel Tovar: He is a role model and a pleasure to have in class Maggie Razo: Maggie has a quiet, but strong and dedicated presence in the classroom. She’s also very nice. Deborah White: She is nice, polite, and very diligent with her work. Maya Evans: Maya is an all around outstanding young lady who excels in all her classes. She is also a role model and leader on campus. Jordan Stark: Jordan always contributes to our classroom discussions and is a hard working Majestic Mountaineer. Cole Fisher: Cole not only works hard in class but also makes others around him comfortable. He is always optimistic and keeps his group on track in a positive way.
African American History Month: The month of February is African American History Month! Did you know the iconic cartoon character Betty Boop was inspired by an African American jazz singer in Harlem? Introduced by cartoonist Max Fleischer in 1930, he had heard her signature “Boop Oop A Doop” and made it into a cartoon!
