The Lake Fire was first reported shortly after 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Lake Hughes Road and Pine Canyon Road in the Angeles National Forest.
The blaze burned with extreme fire conditions as winds pushed the it to explode to 10,000 acres above homes and eventually jump across Pine Canyon Road west of Lake Hughes Road.
Several hundred firefighters battled the blaze from both the ground and air as large tankers dropped phos-chek fire retardant on homes and land.
The fire mostly laid down as nighttime set in. The battle isn’t over, however, as crews work to button up the fire before the sun rises.(c) SCVTV 2020
