The MAIN is thrilled to welcome the return of this year’s talented monthly “You’re The Best” winners as they take the virtual stage one last time, for a chance to WIN a GRAND PRIZE of $500!

The winner of the Grand Prize ($500) will be voted on by three guest judges; Kim Pearlman, Tom Lund and Mary Ferguson. Each judge is a Board Member of the non-profit, “Raising the Curtain Foundation.” The Foundation fundraises for the benefit of preserving and enhancing the Newhall Family Theatre for the Performing Arts and Board Members serve as arts leaders who connect the whole community to relevant, educational, entertaining, valuable and accessible programs. The Foundation also helps to enhance the Newhall Family Theatre for the Performing Arts, an inclusive performance venue for the community of Santa Clarita. The venue was generously offered to The MAIN for the “You’re The Best” Grand Finale Show, pre-‘Safer-At-Home’ ordinance. The MAIN continues to be grateful to our community for all of the support during our transition into online programming.

The all-inclusive talent show will still depend on audience involvement to select an Audience Choice Winner by voting for their favorite act via a shared link posted along with the show! The Audience Choice Winner (act with most votes) will receive a fabulous $50 gift card! ‬‬

Voting starts Monday, November 16 at 7:00 p.m. and runs through Friday, November 20 at 11:45 p.m.! Even Steven will announce the ‘Audience Choice’ Winner on Saturday, November 21 at 12:00 p.m. The GRAND PRIZE of $500 will be announced at 2:00 p.m. on Facebook.

MEET THE JUDGES:
KIM PEARLMAN, Vice President, Raising the Curtain Foundation Kim Pearlman is a long time resident of Santa Clarita. After graduating from Hart High School in 19-something, like most kids, she could not wait to leave to attend college. After six short years in college and getting married, she returned to the ‘burb’ to raise her family and teach in a local school district.
In addition to raising her two children, she has taught elementary school, tutored, and taught kids yoga. When she’s not educating and working to destress our youth, she enjoys crafting, entertaining, attending concerts and theater, boating and playing fantasy football with her girls (one win in ten years, but she keeps trying!). Some of her favorites include the color burgundy, Frosted Flakes, french fries and her guilty pleasure, Below Deck on Bravo.

TOM LUND, Theater Manager, Newhall Family Theatre for the Performing Arts Tom Lund has been active in the local theatre community for 26 years, starting with the Canyon Theatre Guild, way up at the Sierra Highway location. He is an award-winning actor, vocalist, lighting designer and vocal director having worked on over 100 different productions throughout the Santa Clarita Valley.
Since 2017, Tom has worked as the Theater Manager for the renovated Newhall Family Theatre for the Performing Arts located at Newhall Elementary School. The Newhall Family Theatre is a state-of-the-art venue with over 500 seats, hosts performances for schools within the Newhall School District, and is available to rent by local organizations. In the past three years, he has helped guide the Newhall Family Theatre to be one of the go-to performance venues in the Santa Clarita Valley. His favorite color is blue and his go-to morning snack is Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

MARY FERGUSON, Board Member, Raising the Curtain Foundation Mary Ferguson has many qualifying factors as to why she should be a judge for “You’re The Best,” a Master’s Degree in Theatre Arts to start. She has directed many youth productions in the Santa Clarita Valley on a variety of levels, including elementary school, college, church groups, Girl Scouts and camps. Mary has directed after-school enrichment programs in drama, as well as plays and talent shows at Placerita Jr. High. She has also written scripts for youth to perform (the focus of her Master’s thesis was Youth Theatre).
Mary watches everything through the eyes of a director and finds herself critiquing television shows, movies and online Zoom productions. Often asking herself, “What does she like or dislike?,” “What would she change?” and “How could the performance improve?” She favors the color scheme, only if in blue and finds bowls of Special K with strawberries and honey delightful. “Santa Clarita’s ‘You’re The Best’ I’ll be the judge of that…” – Mary Ferguson
