In this panel, two working actors and a casting director share their top tips for success with self-tape auditions, which have become the go-to method for casting during the pandemic. Featuring panelists DaJuan Johnson, Helenna Santos, Adrienne Stern and moderator, Jennifer Fischer. MEET THE PANELIST HELENNA SANTOS is an actor, writer, and producer with Mighty Pharaoh Films. She was the founder/editor-in-chief of the entertainment website Ms. In The Biz for its seven year run. She has appeared in many network TV shows including CW’s The Flash and ABC’s The Good Doctor, as well as feature films, and national commercials. She also voices animated characters, and narrates audiobooks and commercial campaigns. Her work as a contributing writer has been featured in a variety of publications including MovieMaker, Backstage, and BUST Magazines. Helenna is a mix of Filipino/Russian/German heritage, a US and Canadian dual citizen, and currently resides in Vancouver, BC with her husband and their Bernedoodle pup. ADRIENNE STERN is an active, sought-after casting director who casts both film and television. Her film projects have premiered at Sundance, Toronto, Cannes, Tribeca, Berlin, South by Southwest and various other prominent film festivals. Recent film projects include PBS America Masters Joseph Pulitzer: Voices of the People starring Adam Driver, Liev Schriber and others, Why Not Choose Love: A Mary Pickford Manifesto starring Sophie Kennedy Clark, Cary Elwest and others, as well as several other film projects. Additionally, her television credits include That 70’s Show, Welcome to Greenpoint, Cop Show and more. MODERATOR JENNIFER FISCHER is a filmmaker, arts educator and film curator. To date, her films have screened at more than 65 film festivals and garnered 15+ best of awards. Her multi-award-winning feature film, SMUGGLED, saw her tackling self-distribution, successfully securing theatrical screening events at universities, colleges and community organizations through the United States and abroad.
