SCVTV's Community Corner | SCVTV’s Community Corner: SCV Senior Center’s Resources for Elderly, Caregiver Mental Health Care Support
|
There’s no doubt that the older we get, the more our physical health becomes a priority; but what about our mental health? In this segment of SCVTV’s Community Corner, Etta Martin from the SCV Senior Center sheds some light on the mental health concerns affecting our elderly community and their caregivers. The elderly and the caregiver community face a different set of mental health concerns; both are in need of support that helps ensure they are able to continue living a healthy and happy life. Etta Martin helps facilitate multiple support groups that give the elderly and their caregivers the opportunity to process difficult emotions or to find community with each other. To learn more about these support groups and the other resources that are available at the SCV Senior Center, visit https://myscvcoa.org/support-services/. Additionally, you can walk into the SCV Senior Center at 27180 Golden Valley Road Santa Clarita, CA 91350 or call them at 661-259-9444. Mental health issues can affect anyone at any age but it’s important to know that there’s a support system out there to help everyone live a happy and healthy life all year long. If you or if someone you know is in emotional distress, may be thinking about suicide, or is worried about a loved one or a friend, please reach out to the Suicide and Crisis Hotline by calling 9-8-8. Additionally, please visit BeTheDifferenceSCV.org for additional resources and support. Want to see more from SCVTV’s Community Corner? Visit https://scvtv.com/category/community/communitycorner/.
