In this segment from SCVTV’s Community Corner, Gretchen Becherer, Children’s Librarian for the Santa Clarita Public Library, talks about the 2023 Summer Reading Program and gives a snapshot of the cool experiences and events participants will enjoy.

As Summer rolls around and kids say goodbye to the school year, parents might start wondering how to keep their child entertained, while also continuing to encourage great learning habits.

Enter the Santa Clarita Public Library’s “Summer Reading Program”: a summer long program complete with craft days, family friendly activities, events, reading challenges, and more. Not only will there be events and programs that will delight all ages, but all the Summer Reading Program events and opportunities are free of charge.

This year’s Summer Reading Program theme is “Find Your Voice” and will encourage “readers to share stories, express themselves and use their voices to spark positive change in the world”, according to a press release from the Santa Clarita Public Library.

The Summer Reading Program begins on June 12 and will run until July 29.
