SCVTV's Community Corner | NextGen MediaMakers Festival Giving Platform to Budding Media Creators
|
Local junior high and high school students will soon have a way to showcase their creative talents, thanks the efforts of those behind the NextGen MediaMakers Festival. Hear all about this new event–which is a service of SCVTV, a 501c3 nonprofit–from SCVTV’s Executive Director Jessica Boyer and NextGen MediaMakers Festival Committee Member Thresa Richardson. Their mission is simple: provide a competitive outlet for students, while building a community around the ever-growing, locally connected media industry individuals and organizations. But the impact will, hopefully, be wide-reaching, as budding media creators can begin to establish their name as a professional filmmaker, broadcaster and more. As Committee Members look ahead to a Spring 2024 launch, they are hoping to be part of a new, centralized source of what has long been foundational to SCV’s economic and cultural success: the media industry, in all its mediums and formats. Future mediamakers can soon look towards the NextGen MediaMakers Festival as their place to launch their careers or to simply find the satisfaction that comes with seeing your hard work be recognized. The submission form is now open and the deadline to apply is February 9, 2024. Head to SCVMedia.org to learn more.
