In this jam-packed episode of SCVTV’s Community Corner, Dig Deep Theatre gives us a sneak preview of a special, one-night-only production benefiting Eaton Fire relief efforts; the William S. Hart Union High School District highlights the major achievements from this past year; the City of Santa Clarita shares details of a pilot program that’s bringing free mulch and compost to local residents, along with exciting updates on when the City will officially take ownership of William S. Hart Park; the Salvation Army gives us a sneak peek of a sweet tradition that’s also a meaningful cause; and St. Bonnie’s Sanctuary returns with the most adorable kittens ready for their forever homes. More from This Week’s Guest Lineup The hosts then speak with Shawnee Badger and David Stears, who give us a sneak peek at the new and meaningful collaboration between Dig Deep Theatre and The Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival, “Still We Speak — A Night of Sonnets and Song.” The one-night-only event will benefit the Eaton Fire Relief & Recovery Fund, which provides resources to community-based nonprofit agencies in support of families and individuals directly impacted by the devastating disaster in Altadena, Pasadena, and Sierra Madre. Next, we sit down with Dr. Michael Vierra, Superintendent of the William S. Hart Union High School District, who not only highlights the major accomplishments and memorable moments from the past year, but also gives us a look ahead to the District’s future goals. Following that, Laura Jardine shares valuable information about the launch of the City of Santa Clarita’s pilot program that’s bringing free mulch and compost to interested residents. Your plants and gardens will not only be healthier, but it’s also environmentally friendly. Amber T. Rodriguez from the Salvation Army of Santa Clarita Valley highlights a fun, “sweet” event that’s all for a good cause. Donut Day will take place Saturday, June 7, at the Canyon Country Community Center. It’s a family-friendly event that includes food trucks, music, and the popular donut-eating contest. Jerrid McKenna from the City of Santa Clarita returns with some exciting news about the transfer of ownership of William S. Hart Park from Los Angeles County to the City. The City is looking at July 1 to officially begin day-to-day operations. Jerrid highlights some of the exciting plans the City has in store for the park, including opening up the Hart Museum to the public and expanding educational programming. Finally, Lauren Schiro from St. Bonnie’s Sanctuary returns with the most adorable little kittens who are ready for loving homes.
