SCVTV's Community Corner | Sept. 13: Blue Star Ranch Charity Poker Run for Veterans
|
|
After a series of setbacks this summer, local nonprofit Blue Star Ranch returns to SCVTV’s Community Corner to fill us in on how the organization is now recovering. They also give us a sneak peek at its Charity Poker Run for Veterans, which is slated for Saturday, Sept. 13, at Mint Canyon Moose Lodge in Canyon Country, with check-in beginning at 8:30 a.m. Blue Star Ranch has been making an impact in the lives of veterans (and now, first responders) suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder through equine-assisted therapy. Co-Founder John Zhe and Ranch Manager Mike Salinas discuss the loss of its lease and a recent accident that left co-founder – and driving force behind Blue Star Ranch, Nancy Pitchford-Zhe – badly injured. While the organization has found a new home and Pitchford-Zhe in now on the mend, Blue Star Ranch is still in need of community support.
