The new school year is well underway. While it can be an exciting time, it can also pose certain challenges for some students.

Luckily, the William S. Hart Union High School District has a designated task force and amazing programs, such as the College and Career Readiness Program (CCR), that offers students hands-on, real-world experience to jump-start their future careers.

Vince Ferry, assistant superintendent of educational services, and Carolyn Hoffman, chief administrative officer of educational services & student learning, share insight into the many opportunities – or pathways – designed to pave the way for student success.

One such pathway is the Career Technical Education (CTE), a personalized approach to learning by offering work-based training in high-demand and emerging industries, including television and film production, patient care, culinary, fire science, sports medicine and so much more.

The District’s CTE program also hit a huge milestone – the amount of students completing their respective pathway has more than doubled over the last two years. Currently, more than 1,200 students are “pathway completers.”

Hoffman also highlights the programs that are uniquely tailored to each student’s learning styles, including Learning Post Academy, Learning Post Opportunity Program, In-School and After-School Credit Recovery Opportunities.
