It’s time to rally the troops as the most popular volunteer event in the city of Santa Clarita celebrates a significant milestone. The annual River Rally Cleanup and Environmental Expo turns 30 this year and Haley Lawton, the City’s administrative analyst, highlighted some of the new, exciting additions and fun activities to mark the occasion. The River Rally will be held Saturday, Sept. 20, beginning at 8 a.m., at the riverbed area along Wiley Canyon Road, near the Via Princessa Bridge and east of Orchard Village Road. This year, for the first time, the event will feature adoptable dogs from the Castaic Animal Shelter, art activities for kids, a 16-foot community mural that volunteers can help paint. The mural will then be showcased at one of the City’s community centers. If you’d like to volunteer and be part of the change, pre-registration is required by Thursday, Sept. 19.
