Co-hosts Dave Caldwell and Carrie Lujan kick off this week’s episode with details of upcoming and exciting community events coming to Santa Clarita.

The local nonprofit Dig Deep Theatre offers quality productions to the Santa Clarita Valley and surrounding Los Angeles communities. The organization is hosting its first-ever Dig Deep Dash 5K Run/Walk. The event will take place at West Creek Park Oct. 5, rain or shine, with race day registration and check-in at 7 a.m..

All proceeds from the event will go towards upcoming staged productions and readings of classic and contemporary dramas and comedies. And now that we’re well into Halloween season, participants are encouraged to come as their favorite character from film, TV, or theatre. Those who take part will also receive a special medal designed by Lizzy Whitney, who is currently a student at California Institute of the Arts.

If a 5K isn’t your thing, the city of Santa Clarita will he holding its Annual Business for Artists Conference. The event will be held Saturday, Oct. 4. The free, daylong event will be held at the Canyon Country Community Center. This year’s theme is “The Business of Creativity: Mastering the Fundamentals.”

The conference will include expert-led workshops, networking opportunities and personalized consultations that focus on strengthening the business side of artistry.
