For 45 years, the Samuel Dixon Family Health Center has been providing primary health care to the uninsured and underserved communities in the Santa Clarita Valley. However, the recent federal cuts to Medicare and Medicaid, could have ripple effects on the vital services the health center provides.

Philip Solomon, chief executive officer for the Dixon Health Center, dives into the potential impacts those cuts can have on its pediatric, substance use, behavioral health and dental services. That’s why this year’s annual Duck Dash is so crucial in raising funds to make sure the Dixon Health Center continues providing essential health services to meet the needs of the community.

The family-friendly Duck Dash will take place Sunday, Oct. 5, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center.

Admission is a $5 duck race entry per person. Each entry will receive a unique number and will race in multiple heats for a chance to win the Grand Prize – a family four-pack to Disneyland!

The event will include kids’ activity pool, photo booth, balloon artists and a live DJ. This year, the dive pool will also be open for the older siblings.

The Duck Dash’s title sponsor is Logix Federal Credit Union. Angela Sanchez, branch manager for the Golden Valley location, discusses Logix’s commitment to nonprofits and why the credit union continues its mission of giving back.
