In this episode of SCVTV’s Community Corner, guest hosts Lance O’Keefe and Tyler Pledger, who are filling in for Dave Caldwell and Carrie Lujan, kick things off with a slate of fun Halloween activities you and your family can enjoy locally. Pledger also fills us in on the city of Santa Clarita’s new Mobile Command Unit and O’Keefe welcomes Pledger as Family Promise of Santa Clarita Valley’s newest board member. More from This Week’s Guest Lineup: We then get a sneak preview of the American Cancer Society’s annual Bark for Life with Brad Peach, event chair, Abby Smith, senior development manager for ACS, and Smith’s adorable dog Wyatt, who came dressed as Wyatt Earp. The annual event has become a beloved community tradition where canine caregivers take center stage. Bark for Life is the official kick off to ACS’s 2026 Relay for Life. The family-friendly event will include fun activities such as costume contests, peanut butter eating contest and a human dog barking competition. The event will take place Sunday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Canyon Country Community Center. Up next, we talk with Dr. Leticia Hernandez, superintendent for the Newhall School District, who highlights the many, community-driven fall events open to all families. Hernandez puts the spotlight on the State of the District, which focuses on the district’s initiatives. Topics of discussion this year will include early childhood education and the role of the NSD governing board. The State of the District will take place Nov. 4, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at Wiley Canyon Elementary School. Following NSD, we chat with The Master’s University’s Theater Department, which is gearing up for an entertaining, student-led production of another classic novel. This time around it’s “Agatha Christie’s, The Secret of Chimneys.” The mystery, which is one of Christie’s earlier works, is also one of her lesser known thrillers. Opening night will be Friday, Oct. 24, 2025, at 8 p.m. Finally, our friend Jennifer Gray, founder of Sunny Day Acres, returns with the gentlest of giants – Archuuk the Gampr, who’s ready for his forever home. Don’t let his size fool you, though. Archuuk has the sweetest demeanor and is just a big bundle of love.
